There might be few archaeological or monumental values compared to the painted megalithic art of the region of Viseu. Effectively, we can visit dolmens in the major area of Europe, mainly in the Atlantic border. But painted dolmens practically only exist in the peninsular northwest, with a particular incidence in Viseu's region.
The painted motifs in red and black enhance the mystical environment of these imposing Neolithic graves. We can observe hunting scenes, human figures, shamans, suns and moons... It is the imaginary of the primitive man who erected eternal monuments for believing in a life after death.
